These worked great on some copper sheet metal I used to cover an old post lamp at the end of my driveway. They made a horrible mess of my cheese log however. There were almond splinters and cheese globs everywhere when I was finished.

It’s hard coming up with something insightful and witty to say about a 3-piece set of tin snips.

Yes, they do snip tin (and other things). But seriously, who does a lot of tin snipping these days? Tin is so…’87. Most people today are into snipping wires, and very few wires are made of tin. Most wires are made of copper, and I’m happy to say that although these snips are branded as tin snipes, they will indeed snip your copper wires too.

In fact, they will snip lots of things, including your finger if you aren’t careful. But here’s the magical part of that. Even if you WANTED to snip your finger off (but why would you), you can do so in left angle, right angle, and straight angle (can you have a straight angle??) style. That’s right folks, you get three tin snips for the price of three!

It doesn’t matter whether you want to snip it to the left or snip it to the right or snip it on a forward path, these snips have got you covered. Just grab one of the handy and brightly coloured handles and start snippin’ away!

The handles are greasy though, right out of the package, so you might want to give them a wipe-off with a paper towel before you get into your snipping.

Durable construction make these snippers snip with the best of them, and really there’s only one thing I’m left with.

How many snips could a snipper snip if a snipper could snip snips?

A snipper could snip all the snips that a snipper could if a snipper could snip snips.

    Cheers!

I don’t cut up a lot of sheet metal around my house but these snips have come in handy for a variety of smaller jobs. They cut wire well and also cut through plastic nicely. They even cut paper pretty well if you don’t have a scissors handy :-) I haven’t used them for any really heavy duty jobs yet.

They are a bit cheap. The handles are hard plastic, not rubber. This can make the snips a bit slippery to hold on to if your hands are sweaty. I also don’t really like the clamp that holds them shut. It is a flat clamp (instead of having a lip you can hook your finger on) and is kind of hard to do and undo.

Overall they work okay but are definitely no frills. As many others have said “you get what you pay for.”

    Pros:

    - Cheap

    - Do light household work well (have not done any heavy duty or long term cutting yet).

    Cons:

    - Hard plastic grips can get slippery when wet; rubber grips would have been nicer.

    - Clamp that holds them shut is flat (with no lip to hook your finger on) so opening them and closing them is more difficult than it is with most other tools that I have.

So these great snips are for sheet metal primarily, but they are so much more awesome. I was fixing fences today, and using my wire cutters- I used a pair of these, the left set ( not that it really mattered for me for this job ) and it cut through the wire better then my wire cutters! For the price, what a great deal for three pairs of these! They are advertised primarily for sheetmetal, but they have so many other uses.. They are so sharp, they pretty much cut everything..Great buy- Thanks Amazon!

At less than $5 a snip, this tool set is a great value for the money and is cheaper than my local hardware store. These no-frills snips are handy to keep around the house for casual fix-its, wire-cutting jobs, and repairs.

Quality-wise, they could stand to be a bit better, but you get what you pay for. The plastic grip gives off a chemical smell that lingers on hands, but I’m expecting this to go away after airing out. The metal surface and black paint on all three tools in my set showed scuffing and scratches, likely from the manufacturing process where all the tools are tossed about during sorting or assembly. I also wiped off a bit of lubricating grease from one of the tools. These are purely cosmetic flaws and do not at all impact the functionality of the tools. Otherwise, they are definitely feel sturdy enough for light cutting work. I did find the latches to be a bit of a problem and not rotate as smoothly as expected.

If you’re looking for a cheap snip set and aren’t too fussy, this will get the job done for a good price.
